POT OF GREED

In a myth, there was a woman who is called Pandora. She was so curious about a mysterious box. Then, her curiosity reached its toll as some point causing her to open it. Upon, opening the object, thousands or even millions of temptation and sinful matters was release from its cage. Those things was scattered around the world and one was called greed.

Greed was talk about one of the tales written by Chaucer and I found really interesting. The Pardoner’s tale tells about the stupidity and insanity of three drunken friends possessed by greed. They were in pursuit of a so-called thief named “death” but they found an old man who led them to gold bars under a tree. At first, they valued their friendship and divided the amount of gold equally. Temptation ruled them and the tree friends ended killing each other. Too bad none of them had the chance to have an awesome and affluent life.

Well, I was so curious about the old man’s identity. On my own, idea I think he was the one called “death”. It came to my mind because every thief has to escape the vengeance of whoever seeks him. So the old man thought that greed can destroy the bond between the pursuers.

Besides from the twist in the story, I like the way the tale is connected to our country’s present situation. Some officials are hungry for power and wealth. This results to huge corruption, massive cheatings and bloodshed. Sometimes, I even wait for a news headline saying that men had a boxing match inside the senate.

There are tons of products of greed. It can destroy families, break friendships and brings death to anyone but I strongly believe this can be resolve by sharing, discipline and of course faith in God.

Ma and Pa’s E.N.D.E.A.V.O.R

Kids consider fictional cartoons and characters as their hero. Some of these known examples are batman, superman and even Ben 10. Common teenagers now a days, likes anime and TV personalities. I experience it myself because I like anime. Let’s face it, it’s a growing factor but in reality heroes are extremely different. They don’t have to kill, fly round and use laser beams and stuff nor transforms into an alien by an awesome watch! All I’m saying is that all people around us are heroes and one of my favorites is of course my parents.
A lot of traits and characters describe the heroism of our parents so here are some.

Enthusiastic means full of interest right? So I started out with this word because this drives them to have a great living. They have attention on money and opportunities on how to get a lot of that. It’s for them to sustain our daily needs.

Never giving up. If they are full of enthusiasm, then they will never give up if they really want to. Let’s say, a child needs to go to school but his/her family is at the verge of bankrupt, his parents will never say never on their child’s education.

Disciplinarian. Like a P.O.D, every parent has their rules. This helps us cope to the community properly decorum so we will never be embarrass. If they ever get to strict on something, lets understand them because they only want the best for us.

Ever loving. Wanting the best for us shows how much they love us. A loving mom and dad are usually protective and support us on our life. They have so many ways on how to show they love us.

Always Sacrificing. This is another way of showing love and heroism. In ancient times, a sacrifice means a lot, it can be a life, bloodshed and things seen in battle but today, time and effort is the best way to express sacrifice as one of the conducts of a hero. All moms and dads do this.

Valorous. Being valorous doesn’t only mean you have to enter a battlefield or wield a sword a gun it means to take the risk in every situation. There is nothing special with courage that’s why everyone has it.

Observant. They always want to know what’s happening to us. They often ask serious questions when we get home but sometimes they observe us without asking, it’s a way to know whether we are doing the right thing or not.

Representative. You might be thinking why this word includes in the traits right? My idea is that, our parents represent God’s love here on earth. God sends his way of loving through our parents! That’s why I’m so thankful to Our Lord God for giving me such wonderful and heroic parents.

Well, that’s ma’s and pa’s E.N.D.E.A.V.O.R. Give it a try! Add your parents to your hero list and God will like it.
